Erasmus Mundus


Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with third countries. In addition, it contributes to the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of higher education institutions in third countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries.

"Third countries" are those countries that are not candidate countries of the European Union (UE) Member States, the EEE/EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or the UE (now Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania).

The Erasmus Mundus Programme offers support for:

  • Action 1: Joint Programmes including scholarships

  • Action 2: Partnerships with Third Country higher education institutions and scholarships for mobility

  • Action 3: Promotion of European higher education

  • Quality Assurance in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees

The Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo is a partner in its fifth project under Action 2 of the Erasmus Mundus Programme. The project , Education Force: Driving Mobility for EU-East Europe cooperation (EFFORT), consists of a consortium with higher education institutions in the EU and Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldovia space. The objective of this project is to promote mobility opportunities for students ( bachelor and master ), researchers ( doctoral and postdoctoral ) and teaching and non-teaching staff .

The coordination of this project in IPVC is under the responsibility of Prof. Dr. Carlos Fernandes, from School of Technology and Management .

The consortium is managed by Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki ( ATEI - Greece) . Additional information about the project is available at the link

For the next academic year there are vacancies for the mobility of undergraduate students. Pending confirmation of scholarships for Masters students .

Mobility can be made on the 1st or 2nd semester of the academic 2014/15 for a period of six months. In addition to the scholarship amount - € 1,000 monthly - is also included roundtrip and health insurance / personal accident .

Moldovia ( Agronomy , Horticulture , Landscape Design , Accounting, Management , Marketing , Economics , Finance , Tourism , Biotechnology , Veterinary Medicine and Sport .

Ukraine ( Education , Management , Finance , Information Technology, Design and Graphic Design , Information Technology, Marketing , Management , Tourism and Mechanical Engineering ) .

The application deadline for the submission of applications is 10 March,applicants must apply to the International Office in the Central Services IPVC. Subsequently, the respective application is submitted online in the project website .
