Presentation

This Master degree in Accounting and Finance operates within a partnership of the Association of Polytechnics in Northern Portugal (APNOR) composed of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), Bragança (IPB) and Cávado and Ave (IPCA).

The Master in Accounting and Finance aims to meet the needs of advanced training of professionals who seek to deepen and upgrade their technical and scientific knowledge in the area of Accounting and Finance in order to improve their skills and enhance their career.

The course runs on after work hours in order to allow the active professionals to attend the classes.

Course Objectives

  • Provide a broad understanding of the international accounting harmonization process, and of the new Portuguese accounting system which is based on international accounting standards and is in force since January 2010;
  • offer to managers and decision makers new and advanced skills in finance required by the current economic and financial context;
  • provide updated knowledge of taxation rules;
  • enable the practical application of advanced management tools;
  • develop methodological skills of scientific research in Accounting and Finance.

Study programme

This programme offers students a well-integrated understanding of financial accounting, finance and investment, and management accounting. It provides both theoretical and conceptual issues within the operational and practical activities of financial management and accounting.

Admission Requirements

  • A degree course organized in 180 ECTS or legal equivalent.
  • A foreign academic degree course organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that has adhered to this process.
  • A foreign academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree by the Scientific Council.
  • A two-stage degree course or a degree course organized into 300 ECTS or legal equivalent.
  • An academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific-Educational courses.
